Biography

"Drawing...is the necessary beginning of everything in Art and, not having it, one has nothing." Giorgio Vasari

Faith Thomas

Born in Auckland in 1960, I completed my Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Printmaking at Elam Art School, Auckland University, in 1982. There I studied under Alberto Garcia-Alvarez, Denys Watkins and Victoria Edwards.

In 1994 I moved to Cambridge with my young family. There I established my etching studio and framing business, Paperartzi Studio. Since 1996 I have also taught Art, including Drawing, Painting, Sculpture and Printmaking, across all levels at St Peters School, Cambridge, one of only a handful of New Zealand schools to include etching in the curriculum.

I exhibit in New Zealand, Japan, Germany and America. I am a member of the Central Print Council Aotearoa New Zealand and the Waikato Society of Arts.

I am passionate about promoting and supporting Printmaking and young artists, encouraging my students to exhibit and engage with creative opportunities in the wider community.
